The WM-266-4 cell line is derived from a 58-year-old female with metastatic melanoma. It has an epithelial, adherent nature and small, flat mesenchymal morphology. Isolated from a skin metastasis, the tumor exhibited a thickness of 2.24mm and Clark level III staging. This cell line carries a V600D mutation in the BRAF gene and shows PTEN loss of function due to a hemizygous deletion. Additionally, it remains wild type for N-RAS, c-KIT, and CDK4 genes. WM-266-4 cells form xenograft tumors in immunocompromised mice, making them a useful model for studying melanoma progression.

FOR RESEARCH USE ONLY
The WM-266-4 cell line is crucial in immuno-oncology for uncovering signaling pathways involved in tumor immune escape. Researchers use it to study IFN-γ stimulation and its impact on immune checkpoint inhibitor expression in melanoma cells. Additionally, WM-266-4 helps identify and investigate novel therapeutic targets for melanoma, shedding light on mechanisms that may induce antiproliferative and proapoptotic effects. This cell line is instrumental in advancing pharmacological treatments for melanoma, contributing to the development of new and more effective therapies.
WM-266-4 cells are a metastatic human melanoma cell line that derived from a metastatic site of a malignant melanoma.
The culture medium recommended for WM-266-4 cells is composed of High Glucose 1640 supplemented with appropriate additives to support optimal cell growth and maintenance, adding 10% FBS.
The applications include cellular assay, genetic studies, xenograft production, drug testing
