LS-180 is an epithelial cell line derived from the colon of a 58-year-old white female patient with Dukes type B adenocarcinoma. These cells secrete CEA and mucin and exhibit tumorigenic properties in nude mice. The stemline karyotype of LS-180 cells is 45, with approximately 2.2 percent of cells being tetraploid-like, showing t(X;5) (q12;q31). In continuous culture, LS-180 cells grow as a monolayer. Notably, they contain both aromatic hydrocarbon receptor and cytosolic receptor. Additionally, exposure to specific compounds such as 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD), 3-methylcholanthrene (MC), or benz[a]anthracene can significantly induce CYP1A2 in LS-180 cells.
