Interleukin-33 (IL-33) is a cytokine member of the IL-1 superfamily; expressed in epithelial cells, smooth muscle cells, macrophages, fibroblasts. IL-33 interacts with receptors ST2 (also known as IL1RL1) and IL-1 receptor accessory protein (IL1RAP); the IL-33 receptor is expressed in T-cells (especially Th2-like cells), macrophages, eosinophils, NK cells; full-length IL-33 is located in the cell nucleus, acting as a transcription factor by binding to chromatin. Overall, IL-33 plays a crucial role in mucosal and systemic immune responses, offering therapeutic potential for conditions like asthma, autoimmune diseases. TheIL33 Reporter 293 Cell Line is a reporter gene cell line. IL-33 forms a heterodimeric receptor complex by binding to the subunits ST2 and IL1RAcP, activating downstream signaling pathways that lead to the expression of luciferase, with luciferase readings representing the activation of the signaling pathway. Therefore, this cell line can be used for evaluating the in vitro effects of IL-33-related drugs.
