ID8 is one of 10 clonal lines established from late passaged C57BL/6 murine ovarian surface epithelial cells (MOSEC). Intraperitoneal injection of each of the 10 clonal lines into C57BL/6 mice resulted in formation of peritoneal tumors and ascitic fluid. Of the 10 clonal lines, ID8 exhibited the highest tumor load. ID8 cell line is a highly published and well characterized cell line and is frequently used as a syngeneic mouse model for ovarian cancer.

ID8 Mouse ovarian surface epithelial cells (MOSEC) were obtained from mature C57BL/6 mice ovarian surface epithelium. Cells were isolated by mild trypsinization and were repeatedly passaged in vitro, ID8 are often used as a syngeneic mouse model for ovarian cancer.
Generally, ID8 cells can be passaged for around 10 passages after initial thawing without significantly affecting the cell marker expression and functionality. However, the exact number of generations can vary based on factors like cell health, culture medium, and environmental conditions.
The culture medium recommended for ID8 cells is composed of High Glucose DMEM supplemented with appropriate additives to support optimal cell growth and maintenance, and 10% FBS.
