Tonsils are the most readily available lymphoid organs and are used as a source of mononuclear cells. Tonsil mononuclear cells consist primarily of lymphocytes such as T cells and B cells and are isolated from the tonsil via enzymatic and mechanical dissociation and density gradient centrifugation.
