The adipocyte precursor cells (preadipocytes) are isolated from subcutaneous adipose tissue of healthy non-diabetic donors between 18 and 60 years old undergoing elective surgery. The preadipocytes are isolated by centrifugal force after collagenase treatment. Preadipocytes can be cultured as growing precursor cells or differentiated into adipocytes using medium supplemented with adipogenic and lipogenic hormones.
