Human Neural Progenitor Cell Line was derived from the cortical region of human fetal brain. Immortalised by retroviral transduction with the c-myc oncogene, this cell line grows rapidly as a monolayer on laminin with a doubling time of 20-30 hours. The immortalised human neural progenitor cell line with the ability to readily differentiate into neurons and glial cells. Karyotype analyses indicate that the Human Neural Progenitor Cell Line retains a normal diploid karyotype in culture even after prolonged passage (>45 passages).
