The huH-1 is a human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cell line derived from the liver tissue of a patient with adult hepatocellular carcinoma. Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is detected in the huH-1 cell line with a high transcriptional activity, and hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) can be produced by huH-1. The huH-1 presents the typical characteristics of epithelial morphology and expresses several biomarkers of epithelial-mesenchymal transition, such as E-cadherin, ZO-1, N-cadherin, Vimentin, Snail, and Slug. Otherwise, the chromosomal translocation is also identified in huH-1; an integration event occurs between chromosome 9 and 20 with a fusion of 1100bp HBV DNA.
Why choose huH-1 from AcceGen?
AcceGen provides huH-1 cell line with high standards of sterility, being negative for bacterial, fungal, and mycoplasma, to ensure the safety and integrity of the product. The huH-1 cell line is supported by excellent production and cryopreservation methods, ensuring high viability and maximum growth performance.

For many years, huH-1 has been widely employed as a valuable research tool to investigate HBV and its association with carcinogenesis. HCC is a high-risk malignant tumor, and its 5-year survival rate is below 50%. The precise understanding of the pathogenesis of HCC remains incomplete. huH-1 can be used to study the pathogenesis of HCC and screen for effective diagnostic markers and therapeutic targets.
huH-1 cells were originally isolated from liver of hepatocellular carcinoma, HBs-antigen carrier patient. Modal chromosome number is 69.
The culture medium recommended for huH-1 cells is composed of High Glucose DMEM supplemented with appropriate additives to support optimal cell growth and maintenance, add 10% FBS.
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is detected in the huH-1 cell line with a high transcriptional activity. The huH-1 is one of the cell lines that used extensively to study HBV and carcinogenesis, as HBV integration is a risk factor that has been associated with HBV chronicity and hepatocellular carcinoma
