HMEC-1 cells are microvascular endothelial cells isolated from the foreskin of a male patient. After being transfected with the pSVT vector, they retain many of the characteristics of endothelial cells and are immortalized cell lines obtained through continuous passage. As an immortalized cell line, HMEC-1 cells are one of the continuously renewable sources of human endothelial microvascular cells and can also be used to construct in vitro models of human dermal microvascular endothelial cells for many studies.
