The HCT-8 cell line, derived from the large intestine of a 67-year-old male adenocarcinoma patient, represents a human colon cancer cell line characterized by an epithelioid morphotype, which consistently gives rise to α-catenin-deficient round cell formations. It is noteworthy that HCT-8 is molecularly identical to HRT-18. HCT-8 cells exhibit positivity for keratin as evidenced by immunoperoxidase staining and have been demonstrated to be particularly supportive of high rates of C. parvum infection. Furthermore, they manifest tumorigenic potential in nude mice, offering a valuable model for cancer research.
Why choose HCT-8 from AcceGen?
HCT-8 cells from AcceGen are characterized by their high viability and quality. AcceGen diligently monitors the cell status daily to guarantee the absence of bacteria, fungi, and yeast contaminants. Moreover, a PCR-based assay has confirmed the absence of mycoplasma, and the identity of these cells is verified through STR analysis, ensuring their authenticity and purity for reliable research applications.

FOR RESEARCH USE ONLY
The HCT-8 cell line serves as a valuable tool in both cancer and toxicology research. It is extensively employed to explore chemoresistance to various drugs and elucidate the underlying mechanisms. Furthermore, HCT-8 cells are instrumental in investigating the critical factors governing cell death pathways, including apoptosis and necrosis. Notably, when utilized in the creation of compartmentalized three-dimensional (3D) intestinal models, these colon cancer-derived transformed HCT-8 cells offer an alternative culture system that facilitates the continuous propagation of cells, providing researchers with a versatile platform for studying gastrointestinal diseases and drug responses.
