The H9 cell line is a derivative of the Hut 78 cell line sourced from a Sezary syndrome patient, which is a highly aggressive form of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. This cell line stands out for its exceptional ability to consistently isolate and generate various HIV variants from the blood samples of individuals with AIDS and pre-AIDS conditions. With a near triploid state, it typically possesses 69 chromosomes, although this count can range from 58 to 74. Higher ploidy instances occur minimally at 2.5%. Notably, the H9 cell line displays an intricate karyotype with nearly 60% of chromosomes in each cell exhibiting structural alterations as marker chromosomes.
