Growth Hormone (GH) receptor (GHR) is a member of the Class I cytokine receptor family, active in the central nervous system. This receptor family lacks intrinsic kinase activity and relies on associated tyrosine kinases for signal transduction post-ligand binding. GHR exists as homodimers in its unliganded state, with each monomer associated with one or more inactive kinases. GHR exerts its effects by binding to GH, playing essential roles in various cellular processes including aging, metabolism, and nuclear translocation. GHR is widely expressed, with almost all body tissues expressing GHR.Human Growth Hormone (GH) is a peptide hormone secreted from the anterior pituitary gland. It regulates postnatal growth and metabolism and exhibits pleiotropic effects on various human tissues. Excessive chronic secretion of growth hormone in the circulation (often from pituitary adenomas secreting growth hormone) is typically associated with acromegaly, a debilitating disease characterized by skeletal overgrowth, soft tissue enlargement, insulin resistance, and cardiovascular and gastrointestinal disorders.GHR Reporter Cell Line is a Luciferase reporter gene cell line. When GH drugs bind to the receptor, downstream signaling pathways are activated, leading to the expression of the luciferase enzyme. Luciferase readings represent the activation effect of the signaling pathway and can therefore be used to evaluate the activation effect of GH.
