Canine Alveolar Macrophages enable respiratory immunology research, inflammation studies, and host-pathogen interaction modeling in veterinary contexts.
Alveolar macrophages are differentiated from monocytes and are widely distributed in the lung interstitium, particularly around the airways below the bronchioles and within the alveolar septa. Alveolar macrophages exhibit active phagocytic, immune, and secretory functions, playing a crucial role in defense. They efficiently engulf and clear particles such as dust and bacteria that enter the alveoli and lung interstitium. Consequently, their cytoplasm often contains particles, secondary lysosomes, and phagosomes.
Alveolar macrophages can also engulf senescent red blood cells. In cases of pulmonary congestion due to heart failure, a large number of red blood cells may leak from capillaries and be engulfed by macrophages. Macrophages that phagocytose foreign particles may be expelled from the alveolar cavity through mucociliary clearance and ciliary movement in the respiratory tract, or they may enter pulmonary lymphatic vessels and migrate to lymph nodes.
AcceGen’s Canine Alveolar Macrophages are derived from normal lung tissues of experimental animals. Each vial contains 5×10^5 cells per ml and is delivered frozen. Immunofluorescence staining for CD68 or MAC387 is positive. The cell purity is identified to be higher than 90%. The cells are free from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi.
