Beagle canine peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) are isolated from the whole blood of beagle dogs using density gradient centrifugation to remove red blood cells. The beagle canine is a common and useful dog model for studying cardiology, immunology, microbial pathogenesis, and cancer. As humans, dogs also have a chance to develop the immune-mediated diseases, including autoimmune disease and primary immune deficiency disease. PBMCs contain several immune cells, such as lymphocytes and monocytes, and are important to the physiological and pathological processes in the immune system.
