C3A, also referred to as HepG2/C3A, is a epithelial-like clonal variant derived from Hep G2, originating from the liver of a 15-year-old male with hepatocellular carcinoma. C3A cells exhibit robust contact inhibition of growth and demonstrate notable features such as high albumin and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) production. These cells flourish even in glucose-depleted conditions, with AFP secretion decreasing and albumin secretion increasing upon reaching confluence. Oxygen plays a pivotal role in their gluconeogenesis activity, and they display nitrogen metabolizing capabilities similar to perfused rat livers. Furthermore, C3A cells are devoid of the Hepatitis B virus genome.
Why choose C3A from AcceGen?
C3A cells exhibit high viability and quality, maintained in a sterile environment devoid of bacteria, fungi, and mycoplasma. These cells are cultivated under optimal conditions, and their cryopreservation employs advanced techniques. The entire process adheres to rigorous quality control measures, ensuring the reliability and integrity of the cell line for various research applications.

FOR RESEARCH USE ONLY
The C3A cell line finds diverse applications in cancer, toxicology, and immuno-oncology research. Its utility extends to studying hepatocyte function and targeted protein expression. Moreover, C3A cells serve as a foundation for creating sophisticated in vitro three-dimensional (3D) cell-based systems that closely mimic in vivo cellular behavior. Particularly, the utilization of HepG2/C3A spheroids presents a highly sensitive and promising model for genotoxicity assessments and environmental studies, enhancing the accuracy of evaluating genotoxic activities in both individual chemicals and intricate environmental samples.
