These cells serve as pivotal players in various physiological processes, including the synthesis and organization of the mesangial matrix, internalization, and processing of plasma macromolecules, as well as the regulation of glomerular hemodynamics through mesangial cell contraction and the secretion of vasoactive hormones. Furthermore, HRMC are actively involved in the synthesis, assembly, and management of the mesangial matrix’s turnover.
