Human Renal Mesangial Cells (HRMC) are derived from the renal tissue of healthy humans and are located within the central region of the glomerular tuft amidst capillary loops. These cells serve as pivotal players in various physiological processes, including the synthesis and organization of the mesangial matrix, internalization, and processing of plasma macromolecules, as well as the regulation of glomerular hemodynamics through mesangial cell contraction and the secretion of vasoactive hormones. Furthermore, HRMC are actively involved in the synthesis, assembly, and management of the mesangial matrix’s turnover. Dysregulation in mesangial matrix production is intricately linked to the pathogenesis of several glomerular diseases, such as IgA nephropathy, mesangioproliferative glomerulonephritis, lupus nephritis, glomerulosclerosis, and diabetic nephropathy.
