L929 is an adherent mouse fibroblast cell line, originally derived from the parent L strain, which was obtained from the subcutaneous tissues of a C3H/An mouse. These cells measure 5-10 micrometers in size and grow as adherent cultures. The karyotype typically consists of around 66 chromosomes, though it can vary between 65 and 68,L929 with approximately 20 to 30 marker chromosomes in each metaphase spread. Notably, L-929 cells exhibit tumorigenic properties in immunosuppressed mice and are sensitive to ultraviolet radiation (UVR).

Why choose L929 from AcceGen?

L929 cells exhibit high viability and maintain rigorous quality standards, ensuring their reliability for research. They are provided sterile and have been thoroughly tested, confirming their negativity for bacteria, fungi, and mycoplasma, while also being free from ectromelia virus (mousepox). The cell line’s identity is verified through STR analysis, further enhancing its suitability for a wide range of scientific applications.

Application

  • FOR RESEARCH USE ONLY

  • L929 cells play a pivotal role in biological science with versatile applications. They serve as a crucial resource for toxicity assessment, aiding in the evaluation of potential adverse effects of various compounds. Additionally, L929 cells are utilized as an alternative source of macrophage colony-stimulating factors, facilitating research in immunology and cell biology. Moreover, the protein composition found in the L929 supernatant offers valuable insights into the activation state during the differentiation of bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs), enabling a deeper understanding of immune responses and cellular processes.
