Description | Canine primary aortic endothelial cells (CnAOEC) are endothelial cells isolated from the canine aorta. Endothelial cells are a natural barrier between blood and tissues and are involved in regulating vascular motility, angiogenesis, and inflammation. Anatomically, they are small cells with relatively few mitochondria, as well as both granular and non-granular endoplasmic reticulum. They are metabolically active and produce autocrine and paracrine signaling molecules, support bidirectional molecular transport, and maintain dynamic cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesion which are essential for controlling circulating cell adhesion, and regulating vascular permeability, proliferation, and migration.
Why choose Canine Aortic Endothelial Cells from AcceGen? CnAOEC from AcceGen are isolated from canine aortic tissue. These cells exhibit high vitality and activity. They are cryopreserved at second passage and can be passaged at least 16 doublings. Each vial contains at least 0.5×106 cells per ml and cells are delivered frozen. All cells are negative for bacteria, yeast, fungi and mycoplasma.

Application | FOR RESEARCH USE ONLY Dogs are considered a valuable animal model for studying human diseases because they share physiological and genetic similarities with humans. For example, they naturally develop cardiovascular diseases, such as heart failure, mitral valve disease, and arrhythmias, which progress with characteristics very similar to those in humans. Therefore, CnAOEC can be used as a translational model to study the pathogenesis, progression, and potential treatments of human cardiovascular disease, in a more clinically relevant setting. In addition, the cells can also be used to screen for candidate genes that could serve as novel endothelial cells (ECs) markers.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are Canine Aortic Endothelial Cells (CAECs)?
Canine Aortic Endothelial Cells (CAECs) are primary cells isolated from the inner lining of the aorta of dogs. These cells play a crucial role in vascular biology research, specifically for studying endothelial function and cardiovascular diseases.
What are CAECs used for in research?
CAECs are used in various research applications including studies on vascular physiology, endothelial cell function, inflammation, angiogenesis, and the effects of drugs on vascular health. They are particularly valuable for modeling canine cardiovascular diseases and testing therapeutic interventions.
How do I ensure the optimal growth and health of CAECs in culture?
To ensure optimal growth and health of CAECs, monitor cell confluency regularly and passage cells when they reach 70-80% confluency. Avoid over-confluency as it can lead to cell differentiation and altered function. Additionally, handle cells gently to prevent mechanical stress and maintain consistent environmental conditions.
