C57BL/6 Mouse esophageal epithelial cells are primary cells derived from the esophageal epithelium of wild-type C57BL/6 mice. The esophagus of these mice is characterized by a keratinized layer on its surface. This tissue is known for its rapid turnover, although conflicting findings have made it challenging to determine the presence of a distinct stem cell population responsible for cellular renewal. The cellular organization within the mouse esophagus is heterogeneous, comprising actively proliferating stem cells alongside more differentiated transit-amplifying cells.
